Charity night in aid of Positive Mental Health, featuring Honor Heffernan & The Business

Honor Heffernan is not a name that you would immediately associate with Rock and Blues, but believe it or not that is what Honor first sang when she started singing in the early ‘70’s.

For this concert in aid of Mental Health Awareness, Honor is joined by the well known band ‘ The Business’, led by the legendary blues guitarist Pat Farrell. They will be joined by James Delaney on keyboard, Jim Tate on bass and Grant Nicholas on drums.

Following the release of her album ‘ The Other Side’ in 2007, a collection of her favourite Rock and Blues numbers, Honor has been gigging  with some of Irelands foremost Rock and Blues musicians and enjoying going back to her roots.

This collaboration with ‘The Business‘, works really well and they are looking forward to appearing in Galway in aid of this very worthwhile cause.

Keywest

Doors 9pm, Admission €15

One to watch for 2012, Dublin based Rock/Pop act , Keywest return to play a headline show at Monroes Friday, February 24th to coincide with the release of their highly anticipated debut album “The Message”.

Released in Ireland by Alphastar Records, “The Message” features the bands recent radio hits, Feels So Cruel and Back Into Your Arms. The album, co-produced by Mark Needham (The Killers) and engineered by Dan Frampton (The Script) and Steve Marcussen (Keane/REM) ranges in style with crunching guitar driven tracks such as Road to Damnation to more introspective heartfelt tracks such as On This Train.

The band formed just over 3 years ago in a backyard shed in Artane, Dublin by childhood friends Andrew Kavanagh and Andrew Glover and were joined in 2010 by fellow Dubliner Eamon Hegarty and London lads, Sam Marder and James Lock.
The summer of 2011 saw Keywest sign a global publishing deal with industry heavyweights PEER Music in the US, while the summer also saw the band getting plenty of radio play across the country and performing at high profile gigs such as Oxegen, Arthurs Day , The Galway Arts Festival and The Rose of Tralee festival amongst others.
For more information on the band, check out Keywest on Facebook.

The Amazing Apples are a Galway based cover band. They formed around Christmas 2007. Having previously played in different bands together, Darragh, Cian and Brian had an instant connection musically when they got Anthony Ryan to step in and play lead guitar. During 2008 they got accomplished traditional fiddle player Eanna Fahy to join in, and their music became more varied with a new distinct Irish flavour.

The Band have since been gigging non-stop all over Ireland, even playing support to artists such as Sharon Shannon and Mundy. Their repertoire is vast and versatile, and can be adjusted accordingly to suit any party, function or wedding. They play songs from classic bands such as The Beatles, Johnny Cash and Thin Lizzy, to Irish bands such as The Saw Doctors, Horslips and Sharon Shannon. They play modern tunes from The Killers, Kings of Leon, Mumford and Sons etc. whilst also playing a few traditional waltzes and reels.
